Dehumidifier - Not Draining
Issue
- Dehumidifier is not draining
Applies to
- Dehumidifiers
Solution
Is the "Full Bucket" light on?
- The water bucket is full and needs to be empty.
- Make sure to empty the bucket when it's full to ensure proper functionality.
Does the unit use a drain hose?
- The dehumidifier collects water in a tray that normally falls into the bucket but is directed to a gravity drain when the continuous drain cap is removed and replaced with a continuous drain hose.
- Make sure to use a large diameter garden hose 1/2" or larger or special purpose dehumidifier hose which can be purchased on Frigidaire.com.
- NOTE: Small diameter hoses will clog easily.
Is the hose installed and setup properly?
- Make sure the hose is below the connection on the unit. It should lie flat, and as straight as possible with no kinks.
Has the drain hose been cleaned?
- Small particles of dust normally collect in the water produced by the dehumidifier. This can form sludge and algae that can block the hose and flow of water.
- Clean the hose periodically by flushing with clean water to remove debris.
- NOTE: The "Full Bucket" light may come on when the hose is blocked causing the water to backup into the dehumidifier bucket. Shutting the unit off and preventing leaks.
