Room Air Conditioners - No Heat
Issue
- No Heat
- Not Heating
Applies to
- Room Air Conditioners
Solution
Which setting are you using?
- Make sure the unit is set for heat.
- Make sure the set temperature is above the current room temperature.
Does the unit is "Supplemental Heat"?
- This means the unit was not intended to be the primary source of heat in the room, but to assist in maintaining and circulating heat from another source.
- Example: you have a small ceramic heater in the corner of the room. This warms the corner of the room but with the assistance of the “Supplemental Heat” (increases heat approx. +10°F) and fan in the AC unit circulating the air, the room can be completely heated.)
Does the unit use a Heat Pump System?
- These units gather heat from outside the home to generate heating in colder times of the year. The process takes time and is not immediately recognizable by consumer. Please allow the unit to run for 24 hours before determining if not heating properly. Keep in mind as temperatures drop to 40°F and below, a heat pump will struggle to maintain temps due to lack of transferable heat from outside.
