Electric range with coil burners
- If your electric range uses coil burners, start by checking the safety switch in the center of the coil. It should spring back up after being pressed. If it does, remove the coil and look for any signs of damage.
- If everything appears normal, reinsert the coil and test the safety switch again. If the burner still doesn’t function, try swapping it with another burner. This helps determine whether the issue is with the coil itself or with the power receptacle it plugs into.
Glass cooktop
- For a glass cooktop, try a simple reset: unplug the unit for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. If none of the burners heat—and the appliance was recently installed—there may be a voltage or wiring issue that needs attention.
- Keep in mind that cookware plays a major role in heating performance. Pots and pans should have a flat bottom and be medium to heavy in weight for even heat distribution. Lightweight or uneven cookware can cause food to cook unevenly or burn more easily.
